Could Some CBD E-Liquids Damage Your Device’s Coil?
When we talk about choosing a CBD e-liquid for a vaping device, we usually focus on flavor, milligram strength and cutting agents. Rarely do we get into the importance of choosing the right vape juice based on the needs of one’s coil. But, as it turns out, the e-liquid you select and the coil installed in your setup need to be just as compatible as, say, the resistance level of your coil and the wattage of your device.
As it turns out, some CBD vape juices may actually damage the coil of your vaping setup, based on compatibility issues, quality issues or something else entirely. Before we get into that, let’s explain the important relationship between your selected e-juice and the coil of your device.
The Function of Your Device’s Coil
The coil that is found in a cartridge or vape tank is in charge of vaporizing the e-liquid, which means it cannot be vaped without one. It’s a heating element consisting of a wire and a wick, with the wire providing heat to the e-juice that has absorbed into the wick. This allows the coil to heat the right amount of liquid at a time, making sure it reaches the proper temperature in order to turn that vape oil into smooth, flavorful, and potent clouds.
The Relationship Between CBD E-Liquid and Your Coil
The CBD e-liquid has an especially important relationship to your coil, as it’s what is being fed to the coil’s wick. Therefore, the e-juice that’s in the tank or cartridge must be capable of absorbing into the wick properly so as not to cause a clog or contain poor ingredients that cause the liquid to burn, thus burning the coil itself.
What CBD E-Juices Can Cause Damage to the Coil of Your Device
Now, let’s cover the factors that can cause damage to your coil based on the qualities of the CBD e-liquid. It is important to avoid these factors listed below if you want to have a successful vaping experience, and not waste money on either coils or liquid.
Note: We are only talking about vaping systems that use refillable tanks or cartridges, as pre-filled options come with CBD e-liquid that was selected appropriately for the needs of the coil.
#1: Too Much Sugar
Choosing a CBD e-liquid that is extremely sweet may be great for someone who wants a sugary taste when they vape, but it may not be ideal for your coil. This is because sugar burns onto the coil, causing a layer of gunk to develop that interferes with the coil’s ability to operate. Sugar gunk can cause the coil to become clogged, and it takes on a burnt taste that makes your vaping experience’s flavor less than ideal.
#2: Low-Quality Ingredients
CBD vape juices made with cheap, low-quality ingredients may cause damage to your coil as they are simply not intended to be vaporized, or even heated to such high temperatures. Make sure that when you’re shopping for hemp vape oils, you look at the ingredients thoroughly. Ingredients that are fine for e-liquids include, besides hemp itself, VG (vegetable glycerin), PG (propylene glycol) and MCT oil. Other ingredients should be researched to ensure that they’re appropriate for vaping.
#3: The Wrong Type of Setup
Some CBD e-liquids may not be compatible with the device that you are using, which can cause the coil to become damaged because it’s just not compatible with what you’re using. When shopping for these specific vape juices, always read the product description to find out what type of device it’s for. For instance, some high-wattage systems may burn the compounds in the hemp vape oil, while also causing the coil to burn out at the same time.
#4: E-Liquid That is Too Thin
An e-liquid that has a very thin consistency may be bad for your coil, because the wick burns the liquid due to its low boiling point. This is bad for your e-juice, and it’s bad for your coil too, because the coil may end up burning out while trying to heat the liquid to the right temperature.
Coil Condition Matters
CBD e-liquid is a great way to enjoy the properties that cannabidiol has to offer, but there is a right way and a wrong way to vaporize it. It is important to choose the e-liquid that’s best suited for your vaping device in order to protect your coil, which can become damaged by cheap, low-quality, or simply incompatible formulas.
What Wattage Should You Be Vaping CBD?
We get asked all the time about what is the best wattage you need for your CBD vaping experience. This is not a simple question.
There are many factors to consider when thinking about wattages, such as the quality of the CBD, the actual vape oil kits, the vape oil taste, and many others. This article is intended to clarify all about it.
The Right Wattage for Vaping CBD
When you are vaping CBD, it is essential to keep in mind that you don’t want to crank it up to a higher wattage very high. Remember, the recommended wattage (ideal wattage) is the heat needed to turn your juice into a vapor that you can inhale. So, you want to make sure you are vaporizing your liquid evenly to have the best vaping experience.
When you increase your wattage settings, you are making the cotton or ceramic coil over-heat. As they become heated the ceramic or cotton coils tend to burn the CBD. So, in other words, you have the coil in the cartridge burn the oil at a much faster rate. You end up transforming the CBD vaping experience into a wasted attempt to enjoy CBD.
The CBD School recommends a lower wattage. This ideal wattage for a standard vape cartridge sits somewhere between 10-30 watts for the best vaping experience. Such heat will make sure you are having your vapors while keeping the quality of your CBD product intact. In fact, if you turn the cartridge upside down, the contents should be thick and you shouldn’t see any instant movement.
To find the perfect wattage for you, we recommend the “adjust to taste” method. This way you get to experience the energized high from vaping without destroying any of the delicate terpenes of your vape product.
The “Adjust To Taste” Method
The ‘adjust to taste method’ means you start your wattage low, maybe at 10 watts, and then increase it gradually while testing the vapor of your vaping wax or oil.
After five or six puffs, you can be the judge by trying the different wattages and how they are affecting the amount of power and flavor of your vapes.
If you are not satisfied turn up your vape device wattage to 15 watts and start the process over. Keep increasing more power to your wattages until you reach the level that you like and just keep it there. Many feel that more power will equal more vapor.
This is not the case. A happy medium must be met with the wattage and the resistance level of the atomizer.
The Right Vape Oil Kits to Vape CBD
A question you might have is how do you pick the perfect device to vape CBD? It’s actually more about volts than wattage in many cases. When you are shopping around or perhaps digging through all your existing vape gear, keep in mind that there are many different vaping devices on the market.
When you start to buy equipment, there are also many tank, vape mod, atomizer, and cartridge products available on the market. All are different. Since a lot of the sub-ohm tanks on the market today require coil heads that have lower ohms, we recommend you stay away from these.
The reason we recommend you stay away from sub-ohm tanks is they require a lot more wattage to vape CBD. A lot more wattage to vape your CBD is something you don’t want.
If you really want to use your sub-ohm tank, try and find a coil head that has a higher ohm such as 0.5 or higher. The best device to use when vaping CBD, in our opinion, is a pod system.

Vaping CBD with Pod Systems
Pod systems have coils in them that are built with higher ohms such as 1 ohm or sometimes even 1.6 ohms. The higher the ohms, the less wattage you will need to power that coil! Lower wattage is exactly what you are looking for when vaping CBD.
Pod systems have a battery that is set to a particular wattage. Most pod systems do not have the ability to adjust that wattage. The good news is a lot of these pod systems are only putting out between 10-15 watts and that is plenty of power to get the most out of your favorite CBD vape product without needing a higher voltage.
Best CBD Vape Pen Juice
Choosing the right CBD vape pen juice is important when vaping CBD. There are many flavors available and types of CBD to choose from. You can pick between Full Spectrum CBD or CBD isolate.
There are many differences between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate aside from their price points. You might even be interested in making your own natural CBD vape juice to enjoy with your vape pens.
Preparing your vape pen juice at home rather than a laboratory-produced product will give you the opportunity to create a liquid that has nicotine in it. So, you will end up with a relatively healthier vaping liquid than those on the market and you will have control over their flavors!
Just make sure you pay attention to light and heat. Quality vape products may suffer if exposed to light and heat for long periods of time. Five or six hours could be enough to start degrading your vape product. It is best stored in a dark room to preserve the quality of the vape juice.
Some manufactured products on the market come from overseas facilities that do not have the same level of quality control. These products end up with heavy metals leeching into the vape cartridge.
Vitamin E oil and other diluents, go under the radar with many companies and many of these ingredients are untested for human health.
There may also be the addition of pesticides, herbicides, and other contaminants in legal flower extracts themselves. And some chemicals like Myclobutanil are included. These chemicals are offered as a fungicide branded as Eagle or Nova, but they emit hydrogen cyanide when lit. You’ll want to avoid these products as much as possible.
Products sold on many vaping sites are not smoking cessation products and many have not been assessed by the Food and Drug Administration. They have not been given the green light as a product intended to treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition.
Many vape pen products are also available on the black market (sometimes referred to as “street carts” or “street stuff”) and should also be avoided for containing harmful chemicals that could be associated with birth defects and other reproductive harm to the user.
Vaping Full Spectrum CBD
Full Spectrum CBD contains everything that the hemp plant contains. Nothing is removed or isolated and it contains THC, CBN, CBG, natural fatty acids, terpenes, and many other compounds.
Under Federal Guidelines, CBD products must contain 0.03% or less THC so they won’t give you that “high” feeling 1 . Even the brand name THC carts will only contain less than 0.03% of THC.
Smoking CBD will not make you high. People who resort to CBD vaping are those who want to benefit from the health benefits it offers, especially to anxiety and insomnia 2 .
Some will even vape as tolerance breaks from CBD or nicotine. It’s a way to put down the vape pen for a few days as a way to break from use.
Vaping CBD Isolate
CBD Isolate is a very common form of CBD that is produced differently than CBD oil. It is the purest form available. The name CBD Isolate means that the CBD is isolated away from all the other chemicals that exist in the hemp plant like the CBG, CBN, THC, Terpenes, and essential oils.
All these compounds occur naturally in the hemp plant. When the CBD is isolated, it is extracted to stand alone.
Because CBD isolate has no other ingredient. This means that you will not find in it not even a trace of THC. So, if you want to vape CBD and cannot afford to have any THC in your system, this is an ideal form to use. Also, if you are sensitive to compounds found in the hemp plant, you need to keep your eye fixated on the CBD isolate as the best form of CBD to use.

CBD VAPE JUICE SHOULDN’T CONTAIN NICOTINE!
One thing to remember is that you are not vaping nicotine when you use CBD vape juice but it’s always best to double-check. Most vape juice manufacturers do not add nicotine, but some others do.
Lab test results are important because you want to make sure your CBD vape juice has been tested by a 3rd party for quality and compliance with cleanliness standards. So, before you pick the product, read the label and look for transparency and validity.
Want to Blow Huge Vape Clouds
Because you are vaping at a low wattage you will not blow fat vape clouds like you would with a nicotine vape. So, when vaping CBD, you will enjoy the experience, get the health benefits of CBD, but you will not exhale large vape clouds. So, do not expect a show.

Some studies have linked the act of vaping to bronchiolitis when diacetyl is present in the vaping liquid. Others linked it to heart problems or asthma flares. Talk to your doctor before starting to vape 3 .
What Wattage is Best for Vaping CBD?
What wattage is the best to vape CBD? We get asked this question all the time and it’s not such a simple answer.
What is important to remember when vaping CBD is that you don’t want to crank your wattage up too high because then the coil is too hot and will essentially burn the CBD. When this happens, you are essentially wasting your CBD product. When it comes to vaping your favorite CBD product, we recommend keeping your wattage between 10-30 watts for the best experience.
To find the perfect wattage for you, we recommend the “adjust to taste” method. This means to start your wattage low around 10 watts. From there, you can judge whether or not you like the amount of power and flavor. If you are not satisfied, increase the wattage up to 15 watts and start the process over. Do this until you reach a wattage that you like and keep it there.
